Ol Pejeta is a private conservancy on the Laikipia plateau near Nanyuki. It protects the largest population of black rhinos in East Africa and the last two northern white rhinos in the world.
Because it is a conservancy, activities that are not allowed in national parks, such as night drives and walking safaris, are possible here. Mount Kenya is often in view.
What you'll do in Ol Pejeta Conservancy
- Track black and white rhinos with a ranger
- Visit the northern white rhino enclosure and learn about the effort to save the species
- See rescued chimpanzees at the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary
- Night game drives to look for lions, hyenas and nocturnal animals
- Cross the Equator on the way at Nanyuki
What to expect
- Very good chances of seeing all of the Big Five
- A strong focus on conservation and how it works
- Cooler weather because of the altitude, so bring a warm layer
- Tented camps and lodges with views of Mount Kenya
